Homeopathy for Headaches
Besides drinking plenty of water, and taking some magnesium glycinate, the following are nine homeopathic remedies that work for different types of headaches. The great thing about homeopathic remedies is that they don't have side effects*, don't interact with medications or other supplements, and can be taken by people of all ages, even babies. They are relatively inexpensive too!
Homeopathy for Headaches
Aconitum nappellus: This is the sudden, violent headache, that wraps like a band around the head, or comes on like a bursting pain in the forehead. It often accompanies thirst, restlessness, and a sense of fear. This headache can be worse at night, in warmth, and when rising from a chair or bed.
Arnica montana: Besides being a great over-all painkiller for acute injuries and shock, Arnica is the best homeopathy for headaches that arise from falls or bumps to the head that are sore or bruised feeling.
Belladonna: Like the Aconitum headache, the Belladonna headache comes on quickly and aggressively. This headache also comes with a flushed, hot feeling over the head, neck, and face, and is a pulsing pain.
Bryonia alba: Bryonia is the best homeopathy for headaches that tend to be one sided, usually on the right side. This headache is worse when bending over, coughing, or sneezing. Often motion of any sort, even eye movement feels worse, and the pain feels like a burst or tear in the head.
Gelsemium sempervirens: The Gelsemium headache is often vague, beginning in the neck and moving like a band up to the top of the head. It may involve a bursting feeling in the forehead and eyes, and the scalp may be tender. Over exposure to sunlight may bring on the Gelsemium headache, and it is often worse when lying down.
Iris versicolor: This is the go-to homeopathy for migraine headaches. Often starting with vision issues before the pain starts, the scalp may feel tight, and nausea may ensue. There maybe burning in the mouth, throat, and stomach along with profuse salivation.
Kali bichromicum: The Kali headache is the classic sinus headache. Pain, tightness, and pressure in the forehead, behind the eyes, and on either side of the nose. Bending over often makes the pain worse.
Nux vomica: Nux is the best homeopathy for the classic hangover headache. Splitting headache, all over, along with nausea, irritability, and sensitivity.
Sanguinaria canadensis: Sanguinaria is the best homeopathy for headaches accompanying illness. Beginning in the morning and getting worse through out the day, with bursting pain from the back of the head to the front like a band, often on the right side. Nausea and dizziness are often found with this headache.
